Q: What is an Annual Multi-Trip AMT?

An Annual Multi-Trip (AMT) policy provides you with 365 days of coverage from the travel start date listed on your Certificate of Insurance/your chosen first departure date when you are travelling 250km from home, or, if less than that – staying at least one night in paid accommodation with an accommodation provider. An AMT does not provide 12 months of cover for 365 days of continuous travel but for trips up to your chosen durations:

  • Domestic: Unlimited trips of a maximum duration of 15 or 30 days
  • International: Unlimited trips of a maximum duration of 30, 45 or 60 days

The maximum trip duration on the Virgin Australia Staff AMT is 60 days.


Q: I purchased my policy before 7 February 2024, is my policy still valid?

Yes, the benefits on your policy will not change. If your policy is purchased from 7 February 2024, the new benefits and pricing will come into effect.


Q: Does this cover my partner or family if I am not on the trip?

If you upgraded your policy to include your family, then your partner will be covered for travel even if you are not on the trip. Your Accompanied Children will only be covered if they are travelling with you or your partner for the entire duration of the Journey. 


Q: Can I modify the policy after purchase to include a partner/family?

Yes, please call 1300 135 769.


Q: I purchased a World Wide (excluding the Americas & Africa) policy and want to change my policy to World Wide (including the Americas & Africa), can I do that?

Yes, please call 1300 135 769.You will be required to pay a fee of $50 to add this coverage.


Q: Is my policy still valid if my employment with Virgin Australia has ended?

Yes. As long as you are a Virgin Australia Group staff member employed with the Virgin Australia Group at the time the policy was purchased, your policy will remain in-force after ending employment. However, a new staff policy cannot be purchased after your employment has ceased. 


Q: Is there coverage included for additional add-ons such as Snow, Motorcycle?

Yes, you have included cover for the below:

Snow skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling, and adventure

Participation in these activities is included in Your policy during Your Journey however, You will only be covered if:

  • You are skiing or snowboarding On-Piste;
  • You are not racing; and
  • You are not participating in a Professional capacity
  • Over 80 activities – read the PDS for more information

You are NOT covered for claims involving participation by You or Your travelling companion (during the Journey) in hunting; racing (other than on foot); polo playing; hang gliding; off-piste snow skiing or snowboarding; rodeo riding; BASE jumping; motocross; freestyle BMX riding; running with the bulls; sports activities in a Professional capacity; mountaineering or rock climbing using ropes, rock climbing equipment or oxygen; scuba diving unless You hold an Open Water Diving Certificate or are diving with a qualified diving instructor.

Snow skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling, and adventure

You will only be covered if:

  •  the engine capacity is 250cc or less; 
  • while in control of a motorcycle or moped You hold a valid Australian motorcycle rider’s licence or Australian motor vehicle driver’s licence; 
  • while You are a passenger the driver holds a valid licence for riding that vehicle; 
  • You are wearing a helmet; 
  • You are not participating in a Professional capacity; 
  • You are not racing; and 
  • You are not participating in motocross.

You are NOT covered for claims involving participation by You (during the Journey) in motorcycling or moped riding where: 

a) the motorcycle/moped has an engine capacity of more than 250cc;

b) while in control of a motorcycle or moped You do not hold a valid Australian motorcycle rider’s licence or Australian motor vehicle driver’s licence, and a licence valid in the relevant country; 

c) while You are a pillion passenger the driver does not hold a licence valid in the relevant country; or 

d) while in control of the motorcycle or as a passenger You are not wearing a helmet.

Q: Do I have coverage for cruising?

Yes, Cruise cover is included in your AMT policy, (the new product also includes COVID-19 benefits). 


Q: If I've added a family member to the policy but they live overseas, are they covered?

No, those insured on the policy must currently live in Australia and must depart their journey from Australia.


Q: Can I be covered for Existing Medical Conditions (EMCs)?

Yes. Some Existing Medical Conditions are automatically covered by the policy (if they meet the criteria outlined in the PDS). If your Existing Medical Condition is not listed in the PDS, you can apply for coverage for your EMC. If your condition is accepted by Cover-More, it may incur an extra fee on top your policy.


Q: Am I covered for cancellations immediately?

Yes. Cancellation coverage starts from the time the policy is issued. There is no coverage for cancellation claims caused by events that occurred, or that you were aware of before you purchased the policy. Refer to your Certificate of Insurance for issue date and time.


Q: Can I earn Velocity Points on a staff policy?

No, you cannot earn Velocity Points on the Staff Annual Multi-Trip Policy. However, you can earn Velocity Points if you purchase the discounted Travel Safe Plus Single Trip policy. Please provide your Velocity Membership number at time of purchase and you will earn the Velocity points on policy commencement.
